Where I'm coming from

In the late 80s, I earned a BA in English Literature from the University of Colorado, then worked as a proofreader in Tucson, Arizona for a year or so. After that, I taught English in Barcelona for six months. I loved the work, but wanted to be better at it, so I went back to Tucson and did an MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages at the University of Arizona (1991). I taught for several terms at the Center for English as a Second Language at the U of A, then took a job as a language trainer at Sumitomo Electric Industries in Osaka, Japan working with engineers and business people. After two years at Sumitomo – 1993 and 1994 – I was recruited by Longman Asia ELT in Hong Kong to develop and edit materials for the Asia market. I moved to the UK in 1997 and began work as a freelance ELT project manager, doing a little writing on the side. Through the years, the writing increased, and by 2009 I had become a full-time ELT materials writer. I train teachers and do publishing workshops as well. This site shows some of my work.
